The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a single car crash around 4:12 p.m. Sunday at 353 Main Ave., Hotel Zero, Sunday, said Norwalk Fire officials.

The driver of a Subaru Forester may have suffered a medical event while driving northbound, on Main Avenue, officials said.

The SUV crossed the southbound lanes, mounted the curb, struck and split a 15-foot tree at the roots, then hit a parked vehicle in the hotel parking lot.

Both of the cars and tree ended up about 15-feet from the building.

The unidentified Stamford man who was driving was pulled from the vehicle by firefighters unconscious and treatment was rendered at the scene and en route to Norwalk Hospital, the Fire Department said.

He later died at the hospital, said Norwalk Police Lt. Terry Blake.
